With this Major Crown Project the Department of National Defence proposes to equip one DDH class ship, the Annapolis, and the 12 Canadian Patrol Frigates (CPF) with the Canadian Towed Array Sonar System (CANTASS). CANTASS is a passive acoustic device used to detect and track submarine targets. It includes a shipboard electronic subsystem, an interface unit (Array Receiver), a handling and stowage group and a towed array group. An operational simulator and two repair and overhaul facilities have also been procured. Grand projet de l'État qui permet au ministère de la Défense nationale d'équiper un navire de classe DDH, l'Annapolis, ainsi que 12 frégates canadiennes de patrouille du Système sonar à réseau remorqué canadien. Ce système est un appareil acoustique passif, servant à la détection et à la poursuite des objectifs sous-marins. Il comprend un sous-système électronique de bord, un dispositif d'interface (récepteur de réseau), un dispositif de manutention et de rangement, un sonar remorqué et un simulateur opérationnel et d'aménagements de réparation et révision. Un simulateur ainsi que deux sites pour les services de révision et de réparation font partie du projet.
